South Vancouver Neighbourhood House
As a social service agency, South Vancouver Neighbourhood House responds to the concerns, problems and changing needs of the community through program development, advocacy and a continuing effort to improve the quality of family and neighbourhood life in a creative, caring way. They have also partnered with UBC Student Legal Aid to offer services at their location. Relating to the area of Employment is their Settlement Workers / Pre-employment Program.
Their Family Support and Domestic Violence Program provides emotional and practical support for those who previously experienced or are currently experiencing gender-based violence in their relationship. Information, safety planning and referrals to other agencies for further support are also offered, as well as support for children and the abuser/partner. Women can self-refer or be referred by other agencies. The worker providing outreach can meet the women where they feel comfortable, as not all women are mobile.
