Justice Education Society

For over 20 years, the Justice Education Society has been dedicated to improving access to the justice system through hands-on, targeted, two-way education between the public and those working in the system. The Society provides numerous resources for immigrants.

The Court Information Program for Immigrants (www.CourtInformation.ca) educates newcomers to Canada about the justice system. The program's court workers also lead community workshops, provide referrals and explain court documents. Services are offered in English, Spanish, Punjabi, Hindi, Chinese, Vietnamese.

Another popular resource is Learning About the Law, which uses simple wording to teach those whose first language is not English about their rights and responsibilities in Canada. The booklet is available in its entirety in English as well five other languages at www.CourtInformation.ca.

Many websites developed by the Soceity - such as: www.AdminLawBC.ca, www.SmallClaimsBC.ca and www.VictimsInfo.ca - feature information in a variety of languages. Visit www.JusticeEducation.ca to learn more about their programs and resources.
