Fraserside Community Services Society

Fraserside Community Services Society is a non-profit agency that provides quality services that inform, motivate, facilitate self-help, and ultimately allow people to overcome challenging conditions and maximize their quality of life. Services include volunteer opportunities, assistance to low income families, employment resources, programs for adults with a development disability, programs for adults with mental health and/or addiction issues, counselling, emergency shelters, and housing support.

Fraserside provides some Employment Law information (job maintenance). Their Housing Support Program assists individuals who are homeless or who have difficulty maintaining housing in Burnaby or New Westminster. Clients will receive assistance with their search for housing and will be provided with general support during their transition to permanent housing. The program helps with completing tenancy agreements, applications to the Rental Assistance Program, etc.

In terms of family support, they have a Children Who Witness Abuse counselling program (for children who have been affected by witnessing the abuse of their mothers or caregivers), funded by the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General. This program also provides parents, caregivers and related professionals with support and strategies in dealing with issues and behaviour of children exposed to violence and abuse. This program also provides community presentations and consultations on CWWA programs and issues to schools and related professionals.
