Workers Compensation Appeals Tribunal (WCAT)
The Worker's Compensation Appeals Tribunal (WCAT) is an independent appeal tribunal external to Workers' Compensation Board, operating as WorkSafeBC. It is the final level of appeal in the British Columbia workers' compensation system. WCAT's mandate is to decide appeals brought by workers and employers from decisions of WorkSafeBC.
WCAT receives compensation, assessment, and prevention appeals from decisions of the Review Decision. WCAT also receives direct appeals from WorkSafeBC decisions regarding applications for re-opening of compensation claims, complaints regarding discriminatory actions, and applications for certificates to court.
