Vancouver Status for Women (VSW)

VSW is a non-profit organization that works with women to ensure their full participation in the social, political, and economic life of their communities due to the profound belief that women's self-determination is a crucial step towards a just and responsible society.

The organization's activities include developing resource materials; research; public education programs; outreach and information referral services to individual women & other organizations; initiating, facilitating & participating in social justice networks & coalitions; and engaging in feminist community building.

VSW engages in political advocacy revolving around legislation introduced by the government. VSW has published the Single Mothers Resource Guide, a comprehensive list of all resources and services available to women in the Lower Mainland. It also offers the Feminist Lawyer Referral Binder (English) featuring a list of legal contacts which provide feminist support to women navigating the Family Law system.

VSW conducts anti-oppression workshops, determined by year and budget, for volunteers, in order to train them for working with indigenous women, women with mental health issues, HIV etc. Both services and referral training is provided.
