North Shore Restorative Justice Society
North Shore Restorative Justice Society's mission is to advocate and support restorative responses to crime and conflict by meeting with individuals and their support people separately. After these meetings, they might hold a face-to-face encounter between people most affected by the crime or conflict. Practices include mediation, conferencing, peacemaking circles and conciliation. They offer three programs:
1) Restorative Response program: designed to provide support and involvement to victims, help offenders understand the impact of their actions and take responsibility for the harm caused, give families and other support people the opportunity to express how the incident has impacted them and create mutual understanding to build consensus for a meaningful, reasonable and fair solution;
2) Restorative Awareness Dialogue: provides opportunities for community groups to create dialogue about crime and conflict and our responses to them; and
3) Restorative Responses to Adults at Risk of Abuse and Neglect: deals with situations of family conflict and emotional, physical, and financial abuse and neglect of vulnerable adults.
