Ending Violence Association of BC (EVA)
The Ending Violence Association of BC (EVA BC) is a provincial, charitable, not for profit, umbrella organization that provides support and training for 240 funded anti-violence programs across BC that respond to sexual and domestic violence, child abuse and stalking. The programs are BC's Community Based Victim Assistance Programs (CBVAP), Stopping The Violence Counselling Programs (STV C), Stopping the Violence Outreach and Multi-Cultural Outreach Programs (STV O and STV MO) and Sexual Assault Centres (SAC).
EVA BC works to foster cross-sectoral coordination, improve policy and practice, develop tools and resources, and provide researched analysis related to improving coordinated responses across BC to increase the safety of women and children. Services offered to member programs include providing referrals, support and mutual information sharing opportunities; print and online newsletters; a website of relevant information and resources; facilitation of 9 listservs connecting workers across BC; and coordinating regional conference calls to provide support and information to frontline workers.
EVA BC also delivers annual training for anti-violence programs on issues related to domestic and sexual violence, child abuse and criminal harassment. Training/workshops are provided to various communities, system partners, and those engaged in coordination related to violence against women and children. Examples of resources developed by EVA include the Family Law Resource Manual targeting community-based advocates assisting women experiencing violence, Records Management Guidelines, the Generic Policy Manual, the Emergency Preparedness Workbook, Legal Aid Manual and the STV Counselling Best Practices Manual.
