Domestic Abuse Services (DAS)

Domestic Abuse Services - Our Lady of Good Counsel Society, is a registered, non-profit organization founded in 1995 in the Catholic community in Metro Vancouver. It assists anyone seeking safety or recovery from domestic abuse regardless of religious denomination, race, sex, or creed.

DAS operates a second stage house for women who have left an abusive relationship and require assistance to begin a better life. Services offered for victims of domestic abuse include an abuse helpline; individual support; access to spiritual, legal, financial, and psychological resources; and first-stage transition housing.

DAS also advocates for non-violence in the community through workshops/information sessions on domestic abuse and relationship violence in high schools, churches, community groups, and the Catholic marriage preparation program.

Volunteer training programs are provided to those interested in supporting DAS in its work. The workshops/presentations focus on both addressing the prevalence of domestic abuse and educating the public about the various forms of abuse, the warning signs, and the different ways in which victims can be supported. Videos on domestic abuse are also presented at the workshops. DAS' information literature (English) provides information about domestic abuse and support for abuse victims.
