BC Housing
BC Housing is a provincial agency that develops and manages a wide range of programs for those in the greatest need of housing. They are committed to enhancing new partnerships with private and non-profit housing providers, other levels of government, and health authorities to develop housing options for seniors, those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, people with mental and physical disabilities, Aboriginal people, and women fleeing from abusive relationships. Programs available include: Shelter Aid for Elderly Renters (SAFER), Rental Assistance Program (RAP), Subsidized Housing, Co-operatives Housing and Single Room Occupancy (SRO Hotels). BC Housing is now responsible for Transition Houses, Safe Homes, Second Stage Housing and related support services for women and their dependent children fleeing violence.
